Hey everyone, hope you caught last week's Union--yours truly wrote an article about the Pagan Alliance in hopes of spreading the word. We still need more members! Hopefully our new advertising ideas will help with that--sidewalk chalking should be fun, if we're allowed to do it.
I just updated the Officers and Meetings pages, and changed the dates to reflect our next meeting, Tuesday March 22nd, at 7 pm. Hope to see you all there--and bring your friends! Officers, if you could get me your bios and contact info, I can put them up on the Officers page so that people can start recognizing our faces around campus and such.
In the last email update that Angie sent out, she posted overviews of our first two meetings:
First General Meeting:
We introduced ourselves and discussed what we each hoped to get out of the club, or see it become. Some of the ideas expressed for things we could do were as follows :
-provide a safe place for people to go who may not be "out of the broom-closet"
-bring awareness to the campus community
-plan and perform rituals
-do various charity works that are pagany, such as maybe park/beach cleanups, soup kitchens, that sorta thing. In addition to just being a good thing to do, it could also bring us good publicity.
-We could do fun events open to the entire campus community for special occassions/holidays.
Second General Meeting:
We did some introductions, and then we discussed what sort of format we'd like meetings to take. Most everyone thought it might be a nice idea to open meetings with some sort of circle or group-breathing. People who were uncomfortable with this would be welcome to sit out. Just to get us all focused and in the same headspace.
Korinne also brought in some ideas for advertising. The list is as follows:
-Daily Flyers/Small cards
-Small giveaways with event tag
-club logo, tshirts, stickers, bracelets, pins, goody bags
-advertise in residence halls
-chalking
-email press release/invitation
-scheduling bulk mailing
-business cards
-web design
-make people aware of pagan festivals.
That's it for now, folks, but keep checking back! We're expecting a lot more activity on here once word gets out, and once we've settled into a good rhythm.
